Cheikh Anta Diop of Senegal and Theophile Obenga of Congo presentation at the United Nations 1974 symposium on "The Peopling of Ancient Egypt and deciphering the Meroitic script" significantly impacted African history. The five categories in which their presentation had an impact are:
