Red Shift

Red color has the longest wave length, when an object is moving far away, it's light becomes red indicating that the object is no longer close to us. We see this when the sun is setting in the horizon. This doesn't work on a globe model, because the curvature of earth would not allow us to see the sun that long and the curve would just cover the sun.
