This is just a short update of the progress I've made toward a small 1/2 acre homestead.

Today, and for at least the week to come, I am screening the mulch where the chickens have spent most of the last year. The GOAL is to make a few growing beds for the veggies this year. I've got a lot started, and now they're ready to get into the soil.

this was a short video I did mid-project while building out an IBC tote wood fired hot tub.

while pruning an ever bearing mulberry tree, I took cuttings and made a fence line with them. this will eventually grow into a living fence along the edge of my property. The fence will hopefully act as a barrier to deer entering, as well as provide fodder for my rabbitry, and maybe a few berries for the family.

This is a tour of the property with highlights on just about everything I'm doing with the property at this time. I just planted out the beginnings of a permaculture orchard, still cleaning up from taking down 3 large oaks, and doing my best to get things prepared for the summer.

This is a tour of my half acre homestead. This is a demonstration of what can be done on half an acre. A a lot of the perennials are young, especially in the new orchard, but we have plenty growing. It's messy, I know, but you do the best you can when you work more than full-time hours. everyday you plug away at what you can, and don't get too overwhelmed by what you can't. keep moving forward, making progress, adding what you can, and you'll reach your goals eventually.
