Narrow Path Devotions: Religion and Escaping Its Grasp On Us-Conclusion

John 3::1-15

Today we continue to look at religion through the lens of Nicodemus. A religious ruler, high up on the ladder of Judaism with its status and privilege, and yet someone who is smitten by Jesus. And yet, sadly, it is not enough yet to turn him into a disciple.

As we conclude this story, we see again how hard it is not only for guys of his status to escape the grasp the religious system and privilege has on him, but also the escape it has on so many of us who cannot see into the mind and heart of the Spirit no matter how hard we try. For without the Spirit that causes us to truly be "born again", we are still lost and have zero chance of a true transformation.
