Speaking of consequences from not thinking things out beforehand.

Various state governors have activated their respective national guards to deal with monumentally bad political decisions. More than a dozen governors have sent National Guard troops to help deal with the mess at the border.

The Governor of New York has their Guard conducting searches on citizens riding subways to find weapons.

And lets not forget Guardsmen from at least 27 states were activated to deal with the COVID fiasco.

We’ve created an environment where folks are fleeing public service jobs in droves, forcing governors to use the National Guard to plug those holes while they’re facing recruiting shortages.
