The technology of using compressed air to propel a gas turbine was discovered by Viktor Schauberger in the 1940’s. Gas turbine engines can theoretically operate as a perpetual motion machine without jet fuel because their air compressor and turbine provide the power necessary to drive each other. But in the real world, engines need jet fuel to compensate for inefficiencies and frictional losses. According to engine manufacturers, 90% of thrust is produced by compressed air and the remaining 10% by jet fuel.

Commercial airlines overcharge tickets, when analysis shows that jet fuel only accounts for 1% to 10% (refundable/non-refundable) of the total ticket price.
