Mega Man is a Japanese science fiction video game franchise and the first game in the series to be released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1987.
In the game, Dr. Light creates human-like robots to perform everyday tasks, but his assistant Dr. Wily reprograms the robots to destroy opposition and take over the world. The player's character, Mega Man, a humanoid robot with an advanced artificial intelligence program, is chosen to defend the universe. The player fights through various enemies and obstacles in six side-scrolling platform levels, each ending with a "Robot Master" boss.
