WHAT LEGACY WILL YOU LEAVE BEHIND???

Matthew 6:19-21 New King James Version
19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

I asked this question many years ago, and I still ask it now, and that is, what is your legacy? What kind of legacy will you leave behind? Will people know you in a positive manner, or will they know you like apparently they did with John Milburn Davis? Are we building our treasure, our lives on things that last for Christ, or are we building it on corrupt ground, and things that will fade away. Tim Gustafson, this morning's devotional writer, was so correct when he said, “What lasts isn’t what we chisel in stone or hoard for ourselves. It’s what we give out of love for each other and for Him—the One who shows us how to love.”

I think that's why the questions from this morning's devotional are so especially challenging and stirring up my heart right now, and I'd like to share them with you tonight. Please read these questions very carefully, and I pray that God will speak to your heart through them as He is mine.

What will others remember about you?

Tonight, my friends, I'd like to share some things that God showed me from His Word, through this vlog I’d like to share with all of you tonight, and I pray that what I share with you convicts, challenges, and motivates you to want to leave a lasting godly legacy of your life to others, so that that legacy will be carried on through them. So, my friends, as I close this post with all of you tonight, I want to leave you with this final question from this morning's devotional, and I pray that it will challenge you to want to leave that godly legacy.

What changes might you need to make as you ponder your eternal legacy?

I pray tonight, that you are leaving a legacy, a monument of spirituality, to others that is genuinely based on following Jesus, not money, power, or fame. That you leave a legacy that causes others to want to follow Jesus too. Choose to live a life where you are making goals and achievements that are building up heavenly investments, and that you're not getting yourself caught up in the world's definition of success. Choose to leave behind a legacy that has Christ Jesus first place in it, because that's the treasure that counts the most!
