I wanna tell you all a story 'bout Kawartha Lakes City Staff.
They thought they had us by the shorts, not knowing it was their last laugh.
They opened up a little letter on Council Meeting Day.
The Mayor said “We got a summons from Kawartha Lakes TPA”

Well they all keeled over when they saw the dollar figure inside.
The CAO fainted and the Councillors they all cried,
“Once the word gets out that we’re all getting privately sued,
They’re gonna dump us like a hot potato from a lofty altitude.”

So the City Staff were shook up, they went home and told their families to pack.
They said “Take only things you can carry on your back.”
And they went to see the homeless who were living on the street.
They said “Move over now, have you got anything we could eat?”

So the homeless asked the City Staff “You had good jobs and we all trusted you.
You took an oath to serve us, why couldn’t you make do?”
You see what slowly goes around, sure comes around much faster.
We truly hope you found you cannot serve the other master.

So now the Taxpayers have a brand new crew, they set them up in City Hall.
They’ve worked out a budget that’s transparent and fair for all.
The old City Workers got fired on that same day.
And then each one became a member of Kawartha Lakes TPA.

No, I wouldn't put you on because it really did, It happened just this way.
The day the City got socked by the Kawartha Lakes TPA.
