Warning shots are typically frowned upon by Defense Attorneys and Self-Defense instructors as it is the application of deadly force without the fear of imminent death or serious bodily harm. Usually, courts bar a defendant from asserting a claim of self-defense in cases where they fired a warning shot, but the Supreme Court of Ohio disagreed in their decision for State v. Wilson.
