They Pierced My Hands and My Feet

Psalm 22 is a Messianic Psalm and speaks of the time that Jesus Christ was on the cross and of His resurrection and beyond. You must remember that Psalm 22 was written hundreds and hundreds of years before Jesus Christ ever walked this earth. This is a prophetic psalm and not a recording of events that happened in David’s life. The Phoenicians had started the practice of crucifixion and the Romans made it the form of execution that was reserved for the worst of criminals.
