White Squall is a 1996 American disaster survival film about a group of high school students who board a sailing ship in 1960 to learn discipline and fortitude. The film is set to end in 1961, but the film includes a scene from 1962 where [JFK] speaks about the Cuban Missile Crisis. The film stars Jeff Bridges as Captain Christopher Sheldon, Scott Wolf as Chuck Gieg, Ryan Phillippe as Gil Martin, and Jeremy Sisto as Frank Beaumont. Ridley Scott directed the film, which is based on the 1962 book The Last Voyage of the Albatross by Charles Gieg Jr. and Felix Sutton.

The film is about the crew of the brigantine Albatross who get caught in a white squall storm and learn survival skills. The film's themes include hope, happiness, and the ability to cope with difficulties when people live in solidarity with others. Some say the film is a daring and dramatic thriller that focuses on how the crew of adolescent boys comes together as a caring community.
