It wasn't all that long ago that I was hurt by someone I really looked up to. This person poured into me for a few years and truly changed the course of my life. He was a great Christian man and in a lot of ways, I wanted to impact people the way he did.

He hired me to work for his organization. A few years into our working relationship, I was shocked to be given a work ultimatum.  I was told to take another role or turn in my resignation. I felt blindsided and blown away. I had joined the organization because of all the things he had poured into me prior. In my mind, I was doing everything required of me. The fruit of my work seemed to be proving things were going well.

In that moment I felt betrayal like I had never felt before. I literally broke out in tears as I tried to process what was happening. After that conversation, I went home and sat in utter disbelief. Honestly, I was pretty broken, and that hurt lasted a long time because I didn’t know how to deal with it on my own.

Sometime after that, I was sharing the experience with a mentor, and he said something that I knew, but hadn’t really put into perspective. He said that Jesus knew what I was going through. He had felt the same thing. In fact, there hasn’t been anyone before or after Jesus who has felt more hurt by a person they had had a personal relationship with, than Him.

Perhaps you’re in a hurting place from a broken relationship. Regardless of where you are in your journey with God, you can take a minute to start reflecting on the fact that you have an example in Jesus Christ who knows what you’re going through and wants to help you heal and recover.

He understands and is for you. Begin to wrap your head around the fact that He’s been there – He knows exactly what you need in order to find the healing you desire. Lean in and rest on His healing and wisdom.
