The Jews tried to reach God through works and failed.

What is repentance and saved by grace, how does it work without works?

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
Romans 10:9-11

To believe in your heart means to believe into action.

You understand the cost of the debt paid and the love God has for you.

When you grasp that truth, you want to live for God.

You hate sin, you agree with God about sin.

You internalize Jesus Christ, and make Him the center of your life.

To confess with your mouth means what others hear and see in your life.

13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Romans 10:13 (KJV)

You are saved by faith and faith alone, you add nothing to your salvation, it is 100% Jesus atoning sacrifice on the cross.

He paid your sin debt in full on the cross.

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
