On March 7, 2024 a jury convicted Hannah Reed of one count of Involuntary Manslaughter and acquitted her of a single count of Tampering with Evidence. She faces up to 18 months in prison.

On March 14, 2024, the New Mexico Supreme Court issued a ruling in a case called State v. Taylor which appears to have challenged the use of "and/or" in jury instructions.

Hannah's attorney, Jason Bowles, filed a motion for a new trial based on defective jury instructions
