How Bagpipes Work.

The bag is an airtight reservoir that holds air and regulates its flow via arm pressure, allowing the player to maintain continuous, even sound. The player keeps the bag inflated by blowing air into it through a blowpipe or by pumping air into it with a bellows

Ally the Piper, also known as Piper.Ally, is a musician and content creator who has gained a significant following of over 3 million followers on various social media platforms. She is a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, but is best known for her work on the Great Highland Bagpipe. She is particularly recognized for challenging traditional perceptions of the bagpipe, and for her ability to take the centuries-old instrument and make it relevant and appealing to a modern audience.

Ally began her career as a competitive bagpiper, starting off strong by winning the 2012 World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow as a member of a youth pipe band. She continued to compete solo and was consistently ranked at the top of her divisions in the Eastern United States. However, in 2016, she decided to step away from competition to focus on her music career.

Since then, Ally has been actively working to break stereotypes about the bagpipes and introduce new audiences to the instrument

She plays songs from Papa Roach, AC/DC, Ozzy Osbourne, Celine Dion, and even Darude’s trance classic “Sandstorm,” on her instrument of choice — the bagpipes.

Ally Crowley-Duncan, also known as “Ally the Piper,” is a 27-year-old Schenectady native who has gone viral on TikTok and other social media. And she’s about to head out on her second tour.

The tour features Mia x Ally which is the combination of Mia Asano and Ally the Piper, both musicians that have gone viral on social media with their instrumental covers of popular songs. Mia, plays the electric violin and Ally, the bagpipes.
