Why Don't We Have Top-Loading Shotguns? 🔫

When I posted some video of the real-life Halo M90 shotgun, one of the most common questions I got was, "why don't we have top-loading shotguns like that?" Wouldn't it be faster and more ergonomic to push shells in from the top where you can see them and they are less likely to fall to the ground?
