NYPD shoot, kill man after domestic dispute between brothers in Queens

A man was shot and killed by police at an apartment building in the Edgemere section of Queens on Monday.

The incident unfolded at an apartment building on Beach 51st Street around 10:30 a.m.

Police responded to a 911 call of shots fired amid a domestic dispute between brothers. However, it appears that was not true because the weapon in question was fake.

When officers arrived, they say one brother was in a back bedroom. They knocked on the door and had a conversation through the door for a few minutes.

Officials say when police went inside, the man pointed a weapon at them. Police say officers repeatedly told the man to drop the weapon, but he didn't, and the police discharged multiple rounds.

The man was struck in the stomach.

Despite their efforts to immediately render aid, the man was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly before noon.

The two responding officers were taken to a local hospital for evaluation for ringing in the ear.

The man killed did not have any prior interaction with law enforcement.
