Sumerian King's List- Long Reigns of the Pre-Flood Kings Explained!

The Sumerian King's List is a puzzle from the ancient world. It lists eight kings from five cities "before the flood swept over" who had reigns that modern scholars have interpreted to be of fantasical lengths. Does the Kings List say the pre-flood kings had reigns of tens of thousands of years, or have the scholars gotten this one wrong?
