24
In India's Ladakh, hundreds of people are protesting. At the centre of it all is a man called Sonam Wangchuk, an innovator and climate activist. On March 6, he started a hunger strike which went for 21 days. The fast has ended today but the demands remain. Wangchuk and his supporters want constitutional safeguards for Ladakh and protection of the region from rampant industrialisation. The Ladakh region is rich in natural resources and the government has announced several development projects so it is a tough one for them. It has to balance ecological concerns with economic needs by ensuring development, without hurting the environment. Palki Sharma tells you more.
