Newsweek gave a concise report of the federal case in the Northern District of Illinois, presided over by Judge Sharon Coleman, an Obama appointee. Gun possession charges were dropped in a case against an illegal alien, who was arrested in a Chicago neighborhood on June 1, 2020.

The Judge effectively invalidated the Title 18 Section of the US Criminal Code disallowing illegals to possess firearms or ammunition “or to receive any firearms or ammunition which has been shipped or transported in interstate or foreign commerce”.

The court’s decision is based on the recent Second Amendment decision of the Supreme Court affirming the right to carry firearms for protection.

This decision does bolster support of the Second Amendment in this lower court ruling but it is ironic that it occurred in Chicago, a rabid anti gun jurisdiction.

Also, you are left to wonder, was the firearm in question legally obtained?

Now that illegals have been granted Second Amendment rights are the cartels sending their purchasing agents into US to arm their agents who are already here?

Here at the Convention of States we have a solution as big as the problem.

An Article V Convention of States is called and controlled by the states and has the power to PROPOSE constitutional amendments.

These are our three simple talking points.

1. Limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government (including the president)
2. Limit the terms of office for federal officials
3. Limit the ability of Congress and the president to spend and waste our hard- earned money, via a Balanced Budget Amendment.
