Nephilim were as far as we can tell, the product of Fallen angels mating with human women. Paul from 'Understanding Conspiracy' says that they used to rule over us and after they all died out, they now live in a sort of CircusLike environment just outside of our reality. Dressing up as them allows the human to become a channel for the now demon/nephilim spirit.
