The Serpent and the Rainbow (1988)

A young anthropologist who is sent to Haiti by an American pharmaceutical company to find the drug used by voodoo priests to revive the dead. Although initially sceptical, he becomes tangled in the web of an alien culture involving blood rites, snakes, tarantulas, scorpions, zombie brides and torture.
