(1/15/20) Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy calls out Rep. Max Rose For Not Understanding Constitution

Max Rose was singled out by House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy for Rose’s vote to impeach President Trump and lack of knowledge about due process and the Constitution. In support of his vote for impeachment Rose said “the president says that he’s innocent- so all we’re saying is prove it.”

Can you imagine, a sitting member of Congress calling for shifting the burden of proof to the accused? What if government did that to you?

In America you don’t have to prove that you are innocent. You are presumed innocent. The government has the burden to prove you’re guilty. This is a cardinal principle of our system of justice.
