Remarkably, he sang with the Clara Ward Singers right up to the day before his audition. Stepping into the shoes of the iconic Ben E. King, Lewis embraced the role of lead vocalist with aplomb, performing most of King's repertoire live in concert. His smooth and emotive vocals breathed new life into classic Drifters hits, earning him accolades from fans and critics alike.
