How to come to Canada with Express Entry Step by step
To apply for permanent residence in Canada through the Express Entry system, here's a step-by-step guide:
Check your eligibility: Visit the Government of Canada's official website and complete the eligibility questionnaire for Express Entry. Ensure you meet the minimum requirements, which include language proficiency, education, work experience, and other factors.
Language proficiency test: Take an approved language proficiency test such as IELTS (English) or CELPIP (English and French) for English proficiency or TEF (French) for French proficiency. You'll need to achieve a minimum score to qualify.
Education Credential Assessment (ECA): If your education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to get an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report from a designated organization to show that your foreign degree, diploma, certificate, or other proof of education is equivalent to a Canadian one.
Create an Express Entry profile: Once you have your language test results and ECA report (if applicable), create an Express Entry profile on the Government of Canada's website. You'll need to provide information about your skills, work experience, language ability, education, and other details.
Calculate your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score: Based on the information provided in your profile, you'll be assigned a CRS score. This score is used to rank you against other candidates in the Express Entry pool.
Receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA): The highest-ranked candidates in the Express Entry pool are issued ITAs during regular draws conducted by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). If you receive an ITA, you have 60 days to submit a complete application for permanent residence.
Submit your application for permanent residence: Once you receive an ITA, submit your complete application for permanent residence through your online account. You'll need to provide supporting documents such as police certificates, medical exams, proof of funds, and other required documents.
Wait for processing: After submitting your application, IRCC will review it to ensure you meet all the requirements for permanent residence. Processing times may vary, but you can check the current processing times on the IRCC website.
Receive confirmation of permanent residence (COPR): If your application is approved, you'll receive a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) and a Permanent Resident Visa (if applicable). This allows you to travel to Canada as a permanent resident.
Travel to Canada and become a permanent resident: Once you have your COPR and permanent resident visa (if applicable), you can travel to Canada and officially become a permanent resident. Upon arrival, you'll need to present your documents to a Canadian border officer.
It's essential to regularly check the official Government of Canada website for the most up-to-date information and requirements regarding the Express Entry system and the application process.
