The resurrection of Jesus Christ is perhaps the most important event for our salvation and is the foundation of the Christian faith. The resurrection was real. It was the physical raising of Jesus Christ from the dead. Retired Episcopal Bishop John Shelby Spong, among others, doesn't adhere to a literal view of the resurrection. This essential doctrine must be upheld.
