Are Americans Responsible for Their Rogue Government?

For many decades, elements within the U.S. government have been involved in activities that most Americans don't even know about, and would disapprove of if they did. These include overthrowing a number of democratically elected leaders to funding research that led to Covid-19. And even when the American people do voice their disapproval, such as with the Ukraine-Russia war, the government does what it wants, not what the people want. Most serious of all is that the U.S. government is the main force behind the push for a totalitarian one-world government. Since these American elites are clearly the bad guys in many ways, do regular Americans citizens bear any responsibility for this?
