BAN has released its countdown of "Boston's Top 10 Political Controversies of 2023."
In this segment, we discuss 5 of the most prominent and controversial legal cases/challenges facing Mayor Michelle Wu and the city of Boston from 2023. While this is not an exhaustive list of all the litigation involving the city of Boston, we have determined these to be the most significant. They include:
- Arrest of George Williams, coordinator for Mayor Wu's Reparations Task Force
- A federal judge overturning the redistricting map proposed by the Boston City Council due to likely violations of the 14th Amendment
- A discrimination, toxic work environment, and sexual harassment law suit filed against Mayor Wu's appointee Brianna Millor stemming from comments made using an illegal, encrypted messaging app for city business.
- A discrimination lawsuit was filed against Michelle Wu by restaurant owners in Boston's North End.
-An indictment of Boston Mayor Wu's appointee Frida Brasfield for drug smuggling and money laundering charges.
