The Word is very nigh unto thee

When Moses was speaking this passage, the Law was what was known and the Law does not bring righteousness to man. The Law does not save anyone. In Romans 10, Paul is taking this passage from Deuteronomy 30 and applying it to the believer today. You are saved by Faith and that faith on Jesus Christ brings to the righteousness of God to you. Moses spoke of the Word of God and that is was readily available to the Israelite. Paul takes this passage and shows that Jesus Christ – Who is the Living Word of God – is readily available to those that believe. You do not have to travel to heaven to have Jesus Christ and you do not have to travel to the bottom of the ocean to get Jesus Christ. He is nigh.
