Modern Propaganda Explained by Professor Mattias Desmet

Professor Mattias Desmet is a psychologist specialising in mass psychology, statistics and research methods. His early research suggested that most academic studies are not reproducible, meaning that most research findings have no objective value. When he published on the problematic quality of scientific research, he experienced extreme backlash from the academic community. This led to his interest in group psychology as he realised that extremely intelligent people, particularly those who are highly educated, under certain circumstances, can become extremely blinded by absurd narratives. He quickly recognised this phenomenon when the covid pandemic was announced as behavioural science units employed by governments, Big Tech and the United Nations worked at propagandising populations into compliance with absurd demands. Professor Desmet is the author of The Psychology of Totalitarianism, and argues that totalitarian regimes rely on "mass formation", where populations share similar psychology stemming from propaganda, making the whole of society easy to manipulate.
