John Ashcroft Media Announcement Regarding the 9/11 Attacks (10-8-2001)

U.S Attorney General, John Ashcroft, addresses the press briefing starting with the announcement of Tom Ridge as head of Homeland Security. U.S military strikes in Afghanistan, and the announcement of heightened alert by local law enforcement in response to the conflict. Immigration and naturalization offices, nuclear facilities are also on heightened alert. Ashcroft informs the briefing that over 600 people have been detained as suspects in the terrorist attacks.
