Feasts of the Lord - not the Jews
J
JudeoChristian
In Genesis, the Lord God set the heavenly bodies into motion for “appointed times” and seasons. What were these appointed times and why and how was their observance repudiated by “traditional Christianity”? Does God still expect his people, those who walk with Him, to observe the Feasts of the Lord, His mo’ed, appointed times, today?

On the Road to Passover — Passover People

Sola Scriptura Messages
Passover People our Narrative of Hope
Over the centuries the scourge of anti-semitism has done an effective job of robbing Christians of their heritage as Passover People. How many Christians today understand what Paul wrote? That whether Jew or Gentile, if you belong to Christ you are Abraham’s children? How many understand their role in the biblical narrative, their common scriptural roots and shared biblical standards? But most importantly, how many grasp their new covenant relationship with the Father as Passover People with a glorious destiny?

The New Covenant Passover in 2024 will be observed on Sunday April 21, 2024 after sunset
On the Road to Passover - important instructions from the scriptures to take to heart at this time of year.
Taking the Christian Passover Worthily
The Passover is a yearly time to appreciate God’s gift of forgiveness and to set our hearts to do his will. God has had compassion on us and has called us into his family. But now there is work to be done. Having been cleansed by God’s word we are to become holy as God is holy. No longer slaves to sin, we are now slaves to right living, so we can accomplish God’s purpose. This is an important time of year to consider what that purpose is and how God is working in our lives.
In 2024 according to the Hebrew calculated calendar the Christian Passover will be observed on Sunday evening April 24 after sunset.
Join us as we walk with Christ following in his footsteps.

Lessons from Exodus — God Our Healer

Sola Scriptura Messages
One of the great lessons of the Exodus was that God would provide. He would be their leader and guide to the promised land and he could be trusted to keep his promises. One of those promises was that the people would not suffer all the diseases of Egypt and its culture. But this would also be a test of the people and their willingness to follow God's guidance and obey his instructions.
God's way allows for free will and the ability of individuals to make choices. God had provided the path for the people to walk and he promised to be with them, but they needed to embrace God's ways and walk with him.
God reiterated that he was their healer, but God's first principle of wellness was what we would call 'preventative medicine.'
There was no spiritual 'dualism' in God's approach, both the body and mind of those who walked with God were to become temples of the spirit of God. This message relating to physical health was also fundamental to the teachings of the church in Paul's day. View the video and learn more about God's wellness plan.

Lessons from the Exodus — Temptations

Sola Scriptura Messages
Christ left his disciples with a message of warning to watch and pray so they would not give into life's temptations. James reminded his readers that temptation and testing was a vital part of the believer's walk. For it was through testing that we were to build faith and develop endurance. The story of Israel's Exodus and journey through the wilderness was one of failing to resist the temptations they faced. Paul used their example to encourage the brethren to be faithful in facing the tests and temptations that were part of living in Corinth, a city known for its licentious idolatrous culture. Paul wanted people to consider the lessons to be garnered from the lives of the Israelites in the wilderness, as well as, Achan, Samson, David and others who succumbed to temptations and brought great misery on themselves and others. We all face temptations prompted by personal desires or the pressures of adversity. No generation has been exempt from the temptations that John summarized as the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life.
The good news is that God provides the way out of every temptation. He has the answer and the antidote for the temptations that could lead us into sins that undermine our relationship with Christ and our Father. Let the scriptures provide you with the mindset, the thoughts, and the attitudes that will help you meet and overcome every temptation. Lessons from Exodus — Will We Fully Follow Christ?

Sola Scriptura Messages
Will we fully follow Christ? The stories of Caleb, the leader of Judah at the time of the Exodus, and Jeremiah and the generals of Israel at the time of the Babylonian captivity, are linked by this common thread. We are all called upon to make a choice as to whether we will do God's will and fully follow our Great Shepherd . Most of the adults of ancient Israelites who left Egypt did not follow through on their promise of obedience to the Lord God. They allowed fear and doubt to overwhelm them and forgot all of God's miracles. Much later the people of Israel when confronted with the spectre of Babylonian tyranny also lacked the faithfulness needed to follow through on their promise. So what does God expect of his people and what were the lessons that Paul reflected on when describing our ancestors in the faith and their journey from Red Sea to the Promised land?
Let the scriptures encourage you in your walk so you can fully follow Christ.

Lessons from Exodus - Hard Hearts or Sincerity and Truth

Sola Scriptura Messages
The Exodus from Egypt tested Pharaoh's heart, but it also tested the hearts of the people God was delivering from slavery. Would they listen to the truth and walk in faith? Or would their hard hearts cause them to stumble and not enter their promised land? Could they leave Egypt and its culture behind and embrace God's light and his teachings? Or would they continue to walk in darkness with blind eyes and hard hearts unable to leave behind the ways they had learned in Egypt? As followers of the Lord, we face many of the same challenges in trying to leave a toxic society that despises God's teachings. So how do we overcome the very human tendency towards a heart hardened by stubbornness and self-will? How can we have the circumcised and contrite heart that will help us to enter our promised land? Let the scriptures encourage you in your walk with God.

Lessons from Exodus - Be Holy

Sola Scriptura Messages
After freeing the people from Egyptian bondage, the Lord God directed Moses to tell the people, 'Be Holy for I am Holy.' This is a message for this time of year that resonates throughout the scriptures and over the centuries and will culminate in John's vision in Revelation. God wants us to lead 'unleavened' lives, holy lives , clean lives. Such lives will glorify God as they will be characterized by sincerity and a love of the truth. Both Peter and Paul in their writings remind God's people to be holy and to walk in obedience to the 'holiness code' that the Lord God instructed Moses. God is the same yesterday, today and forever so his standards of right living have not altered. Thousands of years from the time of Moses, David, and Daniel God is still encouraging his people to be clean, washed by his word. They will be holy, set apart from the world, and their thought and conduct will reflect the work of God's spirit in their lives. Do you know God's holiness code?

Malachi and the Great Sabbath

Sola Scriptura Messages
Malachi, the messenger of God, wrote the Lord's message to rehearse the events and lessons of previous centuries and to foreshadow future events. He wrote in a time when people were becoming complacent and losing hope. This book which forms a bridge between the Hebrew and Greek scriptures was traditionally read on the Great Sabbath before Passover. In God's great human epic, God warns those who say they are his people but refuse to acknowledge their failings and do what is right. God takes issue with the contemptuous priests, who do not honour him. He will judge those teachers who are hypocrites and show favouritism. And, he will contend with those who are unfaithful to him and to each other. The prophet offers hope of the Messiah's return and challenges every individual to live a life worthy of a child of God. Do you know the advice that Malachi offers to you today?

Preparing for Passover — Self-Reflection

Sola Scriptura Messages
While most Christians are preparing for Easter, nevertheless there are those Christians who are still following the example of the apostle John and his disciples Polycarp and Polycrates. In holding fast to the faith delivered once and for all time to the saints, these Christians are following Paul's advice to the Corinthian gentiles to 'examine yourself' before observing the Passover. So why should we examine ourselves/ How is this relevant to our life as followers of Christ? And why is it especially important to examine or reflect upon our life as servants of Christ before we take the symbols of the bread and the wine? Paul was concerned that the Corinthian Greek brethren would be missing out on some of God's blessings if they did not examine themselves and appreciate the sacrifice of Jesus Christ as they should.
And what does it mean, to take the Passover symbols in a 'worthy manner?" Let the scriptures answer these questions , so, as a baptized member of the body of Christ, you can participate in this meaningful yearly ceremony with a clear conscience before God.

Passover and Unleavened Bread — Leading Unleavened LIves

Sola Scriptura Messages
Hypocrisy and the Leaven of Balaam’s Way
John’s book of Revelation highlighted one of the pitfalls that would challenge believers’ sincerity in leading unleavened lives. Jesus sent a Message to Pergamos, that ancient religious centre with temples devoted to the worship of Zeus, Dionysius, and Caesar. Jesus “knew where they dwelt,” for the believers lived in the midst of a world of religious confusion. His concern was that the believers were being negatively influenced by the teaching of Balaam. Balaam’s philosophy was a ‘do your own thing’ style of worship, that was indulgent and offered ‘freedom’ from the law of God. Of course, Jesus’ prophetic message rings true today.

Passover and Unleavened Bread — Miracles are Not Enough!

Sola Scriptura Messages
The Invincibility of Spiritual Experience
Are you looking for a miracle to bolster your faith? The sad reality is that miracles are not enough. Paul made this reality very clear in writing to the brethren at Corinth. They had made an amazing transformation by accepting the biblical message and rejecting their pagan roots. As a result, they were now ‘spiritual Jews’ and the children of Abraham through baptism, even though gentiles by birth. But Paul had a warning for them and for us. He reminded them of the history of their ancestors, the Israelites in the wilderness. And Paul explained the pitfalls that tripped them up, even though they had seen God’s amazing deliverance. It was evident that the miracles were not enough. For intimate personal experience with God’s miracle working power did not transform the people or build their faith. So what is the lesson for us?

Passover and Unleavened Bread — A Prophetic Vision of Freedom

Sola Scriptura Messages
"Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restrain." But what is the answer to this dilemma? Scriptures assure us that those who have vision will be blessed. Why? Because they will know the truth that sets them free. They will no longer be enslaved by false ideas and lack the vision that is essential to a hopeful future. So what is that truth? As we rehearse year by year the story of the Exodus and God's deliverance we should be mindful of the prophetic vision it provides. A vision of freedom that is rooted in the truth of God's word. Do you have this vision of the future to encourage and empower you?

Passover and Unleavened Bread — True Worship & Prayer

Sola Scriptura Messages
God hears the prayers of those who worship Him in truth. So do we know what true worship is? Let’s learn a lesson from the days of Unleavened Bread and the conquest of Jericho that shows us who God will hear and who God will not hear. Rahab and Achan’s stories provide object lessons for our day. The scriptures tell us in clear terms what God expects of those who worship Him, serving God and others. Does God take notice of you and does he hear your prayers?

Passover and Unleavened Bread — A New Year for the Israel of God

Sola Scriptura Messages
What does the beginning of a new year on the first of Nisan/Aviv, teach us about our past, our present, and our hope for the future? In the time of Moses, God made a change in the calendar and he revealed new information about His Holy Times. Moses relayed these instructions to the children of Israel in the book of Exodus, and he encouraged the people to observe these days as memorials forever. How do God’s instructions to the nation of Israel impact the Christian, the Israel of God? What is the significance of the new year for the Israel of God?

Passover and Unleavened Bread — Our Redeemers Plan

Sola Scriptura Messages
The Israelites were rescued, and redeemed for a purpose and according to a plan that had begun centuries earlier with Abram. What is that plan and how has it played out over centuries of history. The captives have been freed, and the slaves delivered to fulfill God’s will, our Redeemer’s plan, and show his loving kindness to his people…those who cry out to him for help in times of trouble. Forgiveness, Faith and Obedience - A Tale of Four Passovers

Sola Scriptura Messages
There are major differences between the Good Friday - Easter tradition and the biblical Passover- Unleavened Bread festival that relate to the issue of faith and obedience. Are we following the biblical instructions and 'hitting the target' or are we 'missing the mark' and continuing in sin. Are we disobedient like Adam who heard God's instructions but did not do them? Or, are we following in Jesus' footsteps who both listened to and performed all the the Father had asked him to do?
We demonstrate our obedience to God, in that having been forgiven, we step out in faith to do and to teach others to do God's will in all matters. The stories relating to the Passover give us a powerful testimony of the need for faithful obedience.

Jesus our Passover — A Lamb without Blemish

Sola Scriptura Messages
Christian’s at Odds with Christ?
Most Christians would agree that Jesus set an example that we should emulate. They believe that Jesus loves us. And, they might even ask themselves, “What would Jesus do?”
Yet astonishingly, many Christians who say they believe the bible is God’s word, don’t believe what it says. They believe faith is more important than which faith you might embrace. Many don’t believe there is absolute moral truth. And a surprising 50% of Christians in a recent survey believe Christ was human and that he sinned. So what is the reality? Was he a “Passover lamb without blemish — or not?”
