Albert Sensors are integrated into an election system to enhance security and integrity. Here's what they are suppose to do:

Real-Time Monitoring: Albert Sensors continuously monitor the election system for any anomalies or suspicious activities.

Detect Anomalies: They detect any unusual behavior such as attempts to tamper with the system, unauthorized access, or unusual data patterns.

Alert System: If any suspicious activity is detected, Albert Sensors immediately alert the relevant authorities or administrators.

Data Analysis: Albert Sensors analyze data to identify potential threats or vulnerabilities within the election system.

Enhanced Security: By providing real-time monitoring and threat detection, Albert Sensors help ensure the security and integrity of the election process, preventing unauthorized access or tampering.

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) funds the development and deployment of Albert Sensors through the Multi State Information Sharing and Analysis Center (MS-ISAC). They are supposed to monitor the system for anomalies and ensure the integrity of the electoral process. However, what they are supposed to do and what they actually do may not align. Despite their intended purpose, Albert Sensors have been found to malfunction, leading to false alarms and missed security breaches, thus compromising the effectiveness of the system.
