Jesus becomes a means to an end...

Oftentimes, we fall into the trap of seeking God solely for the betterment of our lives. Yes, blessings do come to those who diligently seek Him. However, when the primary motivation for seeking Him is solely for personal improvement rather than seeking Him for who He is, Jesus becomes merely a means to an end.
