Lukla Airport, also known as Tenzing-Hillary Airport, features a notably short and steep runway, only 527 meters long with a 12-degree gradient. This configuration, combined with its location surrounded by mountains, makes it one of the most challenging airports for pilots during takeoffs and landings. The weather conditions at Lukla are highly unpredictable, characterized by frequent fog and strong winds, further complicating aerial operations. Consequently, the airport operates only a few hours each day, and flights are commonly subject to delays or cancellations due to adverse weather.
