Napoleon Movie Review - A Ridley Scott epic that stars Joaquin Phoenix as Napoleon Bonaparte and Vanessa Kirby as Josephine. It focuses on Napoleon's romance with Josephine and less time on Napoleon's achievements as a military commander and politician which many people found disappointing. Audiences were expecting a deep dive into his life as a military strategist and how he managed to defeat so many opponents on the battlefield, but instead, Ridley Scott focused on the romance between Napoleon and Josephine. Vanessa Kirby was brilliant as Josephine but Joaquin Phoenix stoic and uninspired portrayal of the French military genius was not good by any measure. Vanessa Kirby is the only one that may be considered for any significant awards nominations. Highly anticipated movie but a disappointment is the easiest way to describe movie goers reaction.
