Giraffe Kicks Lion in Head Trying to Save Baby | World Wild Web

A desperate giraffe mum kicked a hunting lion in the face after it jumped on her baby’s back.

Ishipo Masudi was leading a tour through the Olare Motoroki Conservancy, Kenya, on February 22 when a lion pride chased some prey right past them.

Dramatic footage shows the lions leap on to the back of the two-day-old giraffe and tackle it to the ground easily.

Despite it’s mother’s brave attempt to save her baby, she failed and the lions took her and her offspring down.

Ishipo said: “Witnessing such an event is undeniably emotionally taxing. The impact is profound, highlighting the harsh realities of nature's unpredictability.

“The struggle lasted approximately one hour, resulting in the unfortunate demise of both the giraffe calf and its mother.

“Healthy and mature giraffes pose a significant challenge as prey for lions.”
