B539 - May 5, 2024 Great Bible Prayers B

The prayers of those who love Yehovah and are obedient to His Commandments, are like sweet smelling incense going up to heaven. The Bible is filled with dozens of examples of people calling out to God for help in times of need and desperation and we can look to them for inspiration and instruction in our lives today.

In this Bible Study we review the songs and prayers of Miriam the older sister of Moses and the female Judge of Israel Deborah. We review the prayers and psalms of King David, as he runs from Saul, learns to be a leader for God’s People, gives Yehovah thanksgiving and praise for promised blessings, and after he succumbs to temptation and goes before Yehovah seeking mercy.

King David was a flawed man, but his heart was after God’s Heart and he was quick to repent when he failed to obey. His prayers showed a heart of thanksgiving and humility before Yehovah. He valued the presence and wisdom of God in his life and he reflected those values in his prayers to Yehovah. Prayer is a gateway to our heart and our true values and sincere prayers will always start from a place of obedience and love for Him.

When we see a Bible character cry out to Yehovah for deliverance or mercy, we can be confident that our prayers are still being heard today and that the unchanging God that we serve still desires to hear from His Children and to help them learn to trust in Him.

Trust in Yehovah with all of your heart and do not trust in your own abilities. Cry out to Yeshua and accept His free gift of redemption for your life and be filled with the Holy Spirit of Yehovah. Trust in the Plan that will never fail!
