Jacques Lusseyran

Jacques Lusseyran became totally blind in a school accident at the age of 7, but spiritually he taught himself "blindsight", the ability to "see" without his eyes. At the start of the war, in 1941, at the age of 17, Lusseyran formed a Resistance group. But in 1943, Lusseyran was arrested by the Gestapo, and deported to Buchenwald Concentration Camp. He wrote about his life, including his experience during the war, in his autobiography And There Was Light. And this video is an extract from this book providing, in his own words, a description of how he taught himself to use spiritual experience to "see", and what "seeing" in this way is like "I saw light and went on seeing it though I was blind".
