Renters not paying rent

HB 2642: Rent Mediation

The good intent behind the bill is to prolong mediation between the renter and the landlord to hopefully have a resolve with the renter paying the landlord the needed rent.

However, laws like these have been abused widely in Hawaii to where renters squat in the landlord's house without paying rent. Then the landlord is stuck not being able to pay his or her mortgage.
