The symbolism of the Frog

The mystic Symbolism of the Frog is based on its mention in one ancient and very special Vedic text - the Rig Veda - and in particular the Hymn to the Frog. It uses the special characteristics of an initiate - and especially a Brahminic initiate undergoing the Brahmacharya (student), stage of the Hindu spiritual path - and likens them to a frog. The symbolism is especially relevant to the time when the students become adepts. The hymn compares them with frogs when the monsoon rains come, full of spiritual knowledge, leaving their life of celibacy, free to produce babies and singing in the rain. Noisy, excited and moving on to enjoy the pleasures of the next, householder, stage.
