Lizards, Salamanders and the Constellation Lacerta

There are over 7000 species of lizard and they can be found on every continent except Antarctica. They are fascinating, beautiful, diverse, but are not as a whole symbolic. But there is a lizard that has its own constellation - Lacerta - that is important enough to still be one of the 88 modern constellations. So in this video we will take a look at lizards, and especially Salamanders. And we will also take a look at the role Father Athanasius Kircher - a Jesuit - and the museum he created in the Roman College, played in convincing Johannes Hevelius that he had seen "Salamanders" scurrying about in the sun.
