הירי של ראש הממשלה הסלובקי הוא העתקה של ההתנקשות בארכידוכס פרנץ פרדיננד.
התפיסה טוענת שה-CIA תיזמר את הירי על ראש הממשלה הסלובקי כחלק מאסטרטגיה רחבה יותר נגד פוטין. תיאוריה זו משערת שאולי ה-CIA מנסה לשחזר את הזרז למלחמת העולם הראשונה, בדומה לרצח הארכידוכס פרנץ פרדיננד. בשנת 1914, הארכידוכס ורעייתו נרצחו בסרייבו על ידי הסטודנט הסרבי הבוסני גברילו פרינציפ, אירוע שנחשב מרכזי בהפעלת מלחמת העולם הראשונה.
