Dear Pastor Bob: I am 41 years old, and my wife and I are the parents of a vibrant and active 5 year-old boy. He is a child with special needs (autism) and we pray continually to be the parents we need to be for him. We are active members in a local Gospel-preaching church. This past Sunday, I had some ladies at our church give me some so-called "advice" on how my wife and I should raise our son. Their words were tactless and judgmental. The two were prominent in our church, so I was really taken aback by what they said. I felt sad, discouraged, and frustrated. I responded to what they said gently; with few words. I didn't argue. My words seemed to fall on deaf ears. My wife wanted to confront them in anger when she found out about it. I told her we weren't going to do that. They were ugly, and we weren't going to act that way. I told her we were going to walk away and let God deal with them if they acted like that again. I'm sad because it will leave me with very little choice but to go to our pastor if we can't resolve this. One of these women is our Sunday School teacher. We love our little boy, and it hurts to walk through this. Please pray for us. What does God's Word say to what we are experiencing?
