How IM Academy Made $600 Million with a Pyramid Scheme While Their Traders are Losing Money

Multi-level marketing companies have been around for a while now, it’s a lawful and legitimate business method in which members can earn income through a commission-based sales system. Generally, MLM companies sell products or services, and members earn a commission for every sale they make. While this sales structure is similar to that of traditional businesses, MLM companies differ in that they rely heavily on recruitment to grow their sales force. On the other hand, pyramid schemes are illegal financial scams masquerading as Multi-level marketing.

IM academy was formed in 2013 by Christopher and Isis Terry to offer learning and education opportunities to adult students on a subscription model. IM academy’s objective was to provide its customers with accessible and interactive training to enable them to develop skills they could apply to their own trading. Initially IM academy focused on financial markets education but has since expanded its scope into learning modules that cover other areas such as social media and e-commerce.

IM academy claims to provide education and training on trading foreign exchange, but their programs are often overpriced and inadequate. Many who have gone through the programs claim that the training doesn't provide enough information to make successful trades and is more like a marketing ploy rather than genuine education. The company does not provide any unique investment strategies that allow members to make successful trades. Instead, members often end up losing money through poor investment decisions, as success is largely dependent on market conditions, which no one has control over.
