Psalms 1-10

The Book of Psalms is a collection of 150 ancient Hebrew poems, songs, and prayers. These compositions come from different eras in Israel’s history. Seventy-three of the psalms are connected to King David, who was both a poet and a harp player. Other authors include Asaph, the sons of Korah, and worship leaders in the temple. Some psalms are anonymous. The book of Psalms is not just a hymnbook; it expresses a wide range of emotions and themes, including God as King, hope for the Messiah, and lament in response to evil.
