High drama for Vasco da Gama sailors

The NSRI Port Edward rescue craft Spirit of Steve came ashore at Port Edward at 6.09am on Saturday with the 4 casualty sailing yacht “Tipsy” crew onboard. The NSRI Shelly Beach rescue craft Spirit of Dawn (that assisted in refuelling Spirit of Steve and then accompanied her on the leg home to Port Edward before continuing on her way) can be seen passing by in the background heading towards Shelly Beach. The rescue operation was activated at 7.38pm on Friday. All 4 casualty crew are recovering safely and well.
