Fake Car Title Agent Arrested For Fraud
Vehicle titles are often targets for fraud. Here's an example involving a clerk at a title agency who was arrested for processing $3 million in fraudulent titles. She filed fake paperwork to get titles for cars that her partners acquired without proper documentation. This scam allowed them to obtain official titles for stolen or improperly acquired vehicles, effectively giving them free cars.
This fraudulent scheme lasted for years, resulting in 36 felony charges, dozens of stolen vehicles, and revoked titles. It's a reminder to always obtain titles through legal methods. Ensure you understand the process and verify its legality to avoid severe legal and financial consequences. Doing it the right way may take more effort, but it protects you from future problems.
