Найденный в конце 40-х древний город Караль (Caral), который начали раскапывать в 1994 году, а в 2001 объявили самым древним городом на территории Южной и Северной Америк, до сих пор изучается учёными.
Карал очень плотно застроен, в самом сердце города расположен амфитеатр, неподалёку расположен главный храм города – Сечин-Бахо. Он имеет форму пирамиды, причём очень правильной, ее углы составляют ровно 90 градусов, а все стороны сходятся в центре.
